Yes, I am recycling the same lame joke that I'm sure every American makes when they first pick up their rental car in New Zealand, but it is very disconcerting to realize that everything you learned about driving back when you were 16 gets thrown out of the window. And that was just the perspective from the back seat - I've not yet had the opportunity to drive. Mark was the first victim/volunteer and did a great job and was a good sport about me and Peter who kept yelling "Stay left! Stay left!" And we did have a laugh when he kept turning on the windshield wipers when he tried to signal a turn.
I like seeing the hands at 10 and 2--very defensive driving.
ReplyDeleteIn England, rental cars quite often have a big arrow pointing left with the words "Keep Left". It helps cut down on the number of times that passengers scream at the driver...sometimes.
ReplyDelete@Joseph, Not only are Mark's hands at 10 and 2 -- they appear to be clenched at 10 & 2! Or maybe I think that only because my hands are always clenched in a death grip when I have to drive on the left.
ReplyDeleteStay safe on the road!
