It was a perfect touchdown this morning at the Auckland airport after our 12.5 hour flight from Los Angeles. As hard as we tried, we were unable to score exit row seating on the plane, kind of important as we're both well over six feet tall, and on long flights, ALWAYS manage to sit behind someone who feels they must recline into our seats. The "extra leg room" seats had already been snapped up so we ended up in Row 26 A & B, window and aisle.
But the airplane karma gods were with us. As we got on board and waited for the folks in front of us to take their seats, we struck up a quick conversation with a group of flight attendants. Very friendly guys. So after settling in and taking off, one of the stewards came back and offered us a Champagne toast. Cheers! We both dozed off pretty quickly, as it had been a long day exploring Los Angeles. When we woke up, the flight was already halfway over, and once again, the steward came back, this time treating us to an ice-cold mimosa! Over the next six-and-a-half hours, we were totally spoiled and treated like VIPs. It made the tiny lady in front of me who was sprawled out in my lap that much easier to bear. Thanks to a great flight crew!!!
Ahh just goes to show that some flight attendants actually enjoy treating others beautifully! I'm glad you enjoyed. I would have done the same thing for you.
